Final Frontier (by Carley Evans)

“Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise — her ongoing mission — to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life forms, and near civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before.”

STAR TREK has been a part of our lives for a little more than 40 years!

A universe with a federation of planets existing without currency — presumably people work for the sake of the experiences work provides. Presumably people share resources or trade commodities, bartering — “I need this; you need that. I’ve got that; you’ve got this.”

Hostiles are “out there” in the far reaches — the federation just sort of runs into these warring species, and escapes or converts.

Not everyone gets along. Ambition, fear, insanity, old-age, abandonment, evil — all these exist in the STAR TREK world just as in our world. The ideal of a group of planets working together is still the ideal of one country pitted against a bunch of other countries — it just happens in outer space.

And the gods of STAR TREK are, as far as I recall, the messiah-like warrior of Klingon or some super-being like “Q” who is just so powerful as to be viewed as a god. So, in the world of the federation and the outer planets, superstition still abounds.

Did Jesus die for the universe? Or, for the earthbound? I, for one, believe Jesus died for us — for those who carry the DNA of Adam and Eve, who stepped into sin in the garden of Eden.

Nevertheless, out there in the broader universe, Jesus is of course still GOD, the creator of all.
