Like a Little Child ( by Carley Evans )

Jesus says:

“Unless you change and become like little children, you never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 18:3-4,NIV)

To Nicodemus, Jesus says:

“I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again. I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.” (John 3:3,5)

First we see. We see by being born again. We are changed. We are changed by being born of water and the Spirit of God. We then enter the kingdom of heaven.

God the Holy Spirit says:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning… He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him. He came to that which was His own, but His own did not receive Him. Yet to all who received Him, to those who believe in His Name, He gave the right to become children of God — children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.” (John 1:1-2,10-13)

The world is incapable of seeing the kingdom of heaven. With God’s intervention we are given the right to become children of God, born not of human decision but of the will of God Himself.

Thank You, Lord for Your mercy. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
