A Man of Science ( by Carley Evans )

King Solomon, Russian icon from first quarter ...

Bewildered by Christians who condemn or at the very least disdain the pursuit of scientific knowledge? I am.

“God gives Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore. Solomon’s wisdom is greater than the wisdom of all the men of the East, and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt. He speaks three thousand proverbs and his songs number a thousand and five. He describes plant life, from the cedar of Lebanon to the hyssop that grows out of walls. He also teaches about animals and birds, reptiles and fish. Men of all nations come to listen to Solomon’s wisdom, sent by all the kings of the world, who hear of his wisdom.” (1 Kings 4:29-30, 32-34, NIV)

Solomon sounds like the Stephen Hawking of his day.

Thanks so much, Middle Age Ramblings.

  2. Roger Tharpe says:

The scientific knowledge that all followers of Jesus Christ disdain is the theory of evolution. This scientific knowledge opposes the Bible and is recorded in scripture as foolish. (Psalm 14:1)

I do not believe any man condemns or disdains his iPhone.

      Roger,
I agree — my iPhone is an awesome piece of technological feat — as for the theory of evolution; that’s what it is — a theory. Whether God created the universe in 6 literal days or over millions of years through a process matters not to me at all. That He is THE CREATOR with an INTELLIGENT DESIGN is what matters to me! If science shows the earth was created over millions of years, that is not a challenge to my faith in the least. God is God; let every man be subject to TRUTH in whatever form it comes.
      Blessings, Carley
